The traditional gifts

Custom varies by family and culture, but the classic godparent gifts share one quality: they are meant to be kept.

• A crucifix or cross for the child's room — the most traditional gift of all.
• A Bible or missal, inscribed with the date of the baptism.
• A rosary, often saved until the child is old enough to pray it.

• Jewelry such as a saint medal, usually worn at milestones.

What makes a baptism gift worth giving

The baptism itself lasts an hour. The gift is what remains — often the only physical object from that day the child will ever hold. That is why the best godparent gifts pass a simple test: will this still be present in their home at thirty?

A note on timing

If you choose something made to order, allow time. Our own sculptures take 2–3 weeks because each one is carved when you order it — so ordering a month before the baptism is comfortable; ordering the week before is not. (If your ceremony date is close, add it to the order note — we will tell you honestly whether it can arrive in time, before we carve.)
